$\"mildew\"$ Both mildew and black mold have similar properties, but they are very different. For example, both black mold and mildew thrive in wet environments and can grow on most surfaces. Both are a type of fungus and thrive in cool and damp areas.<\/p>\n

Mildew is a growth caused by microorganisms. Mildew is typically green. A mildew infestation on fabric or paper cannot generally be scrubbed away. It often appears in showers and bathrooms.<\/p>\n

Mold is generally classified as a more harmful fungus.\u00a0 Some molds contain toxins called mycotoxins. Inhaling black mold spores can cause allergic reactions. Symptoms of a mold allergy include headaches, asthma and flu-like symptoms.\u00a0 Mold is generally black or white, but either can appear in a variety of colors. Mold can also grow in hidden areas, such as within walls, under flooring or in closets. The source of the mold generally determines the scope of infestation and the remediation techniques needed to eliminate the problem.<\/p>\n
